Urban Parks

DPLA works with developers and city planners to produce park designs which create a unique identity for each neighbourhood and provide residents with an enjoyable community space.

Oxbow, Fairways West, Regina SK 2016

Within the Fairways West subdivision, a natural oxbow exists south of a storm channel. This site provides habitat for a variety of bird species and a natural retention pond for stormwater runoff. The design for this site encompasses the interaction of human and nature; asphalt paths link parks and trails in the subdivision while the planting plan introduces native shrubs, trees, and grasses to encourage the water body to continue its natural processes while reducing invasive weed presence.  Due to the sensitive nature of the site, DPLA created a comprehensive Maintenance Manual to assist in the prolonged functionality of the oxbow that recognizes human presence.

Marketing plans - Westerra, Regina SK 2016

As part of the design services, DPLA also offers graphic renderings of their designed plans to visually communicate proposed green spaces to the public. These can be used for marketing, open houses, pamphlets, and / or websites to explain amenities, services, and benefits of alterations to existing or new parks and green spaces. The images below were rendered to showcase some of the proposed parks in Westerra.

Green Meadow Park, Greens on Gardiner, Regina SK

Serving as a natural drainage collection point during the construction process, DPLA enhanced the retention capabilities of this park by creating a permanent water body. This focal point serves as a naturalized zone that attracts wildlife (particularly waterfowl) and is surrounded by winding pathways. The rest of the park boasts open playspaces, mounds, and a playground for the children to enjoy.

Pilot Butte Town Park Master Plan Concept, 2001, SK
The intent of this project is to offer a multi-use paved pathway around the entire site, while respecting existing ball diamond use and making use of currently neglected coulee landform. This project takes advantage of natural features while accommodating existing programming.
